Alarmo Privacy Policy

Effective date: 10 August 2026

Applies to: the Alarmo iPhone app and the Alarmo Apple Watch app

Contact: ggoktugoktay@gmail.com

Summary

Alarmo collects no personal data. There is no server, no account system, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party SDK. Everything the app creates or reads stays on your device. This document explains what that means concretely: which permission is used for what, where data is stored and how it is deleted.

The app is open source under the MIT license, so every statement here can be verified against the source code.

1. Data we do not collect

None of the following is collected, transmitted to us, or shared with third parties:

The app does not track you and does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission. There are no in-app purchases, so no payment information is ever processed.

2. Where your data lives

Your alarms, groups, skipped days and preferences are stored in your device's own storage (Apple's SwiftData store and the app's own settings area), inside the protected container the operating system assigns to the app.

Alarm and group information is transferred between iPhone and Apple Watch through Apple's device-to-device WatchConnectivity interface. That transfer stays between your two devices and does not pass through any server of ours or anyone else's. The app does not require an internet connection to work.

If iCloud Backup is enabled on your device, app data may be included in iOS's general backup behaviour. That is an operating system feature provided by Apple; Alarmo has no cloud sync of its own.

3. Permissions

All permissions below are optional. You can create, group and use alarms without granting any of them.

3.1 Notifications

Used so alarms can ring. On iOS 17-25 alarms are scheduled as local notifications. They are created on the device and stay on the device; no remote (push) notifications are used, so no device token is generated or transmitted.

3.2 Health (HealthKit) — optional, read-only

Requested only for sleep analysis data and only for reading. The single purpose is to decide whether the Apple Watch should ask "are you awake?" when you are inside the wake-up window. You give the answer; no alarm is ever dismissed without your confirmation.

Note: the app's Info.plist contains a "health data update" usage string. That text is required by the system permission form; the app does not in fact write health data.

3.3 Calendar — optional, off by default

This feature is off after installation. Calendar permission is not requested and your calendar is not accessed unless you turn on "Calendar-based skip suggestions" in Settings. When enabled, the app looks for holiday or time-off style days in your system calendar and suggests skipping alarms on those days. Event information is evaluated on device only; it is not stored and not transmitted. Turning the feature off ends the access.

3.4 AlarmKit (iOS 26 and later)

On iOS 26 the system's AlarmKit framework is used so the alarm can ring full screen on the Lock Screen and break through Focus modes. This permission only enables the alarm to ring; it reads and transmits no data.

4. Children

Alarmo is not directed at children and collects no personal data from anyone, of any age.

5. Deleting your data

Deleting an alarm, group or skipped day inside the app removes that record from your device. Removing the app from your iPhone and Apple Watch causes the operating system to delete all data the app created. Because we hold no data about you, there is no deletion request to send us.

You can revoke Health and Calendar permissions at any time in iOS Settings (Settings → Privacy & Security → Health / Calendars).

6. Your rights

Regulations such as the GDPR and Türkiye's KVKK grant rights to access, correct, delete and port your data. Because Alarmo processes and stores no data on your behalf, we hold no record that these rights could apply to. All of your data is on the device you control.

7. Third parties

The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting or tracking components. Every framework it uses ships with Apple's operating systems.

8. Changes to this policy

If the policy changes, the effective date above is updated and the change is published in the app's repository. No change that would require us to start collecting data is planned; if that ever changed, it would be stated plainly in the release notes.
